Galatians 5:13-26 "Living By The Spirit" Rev. Keith T. Reid

Paul has spent ample time in his letter to the Galatians explaining how Christ has set believers free from their slavery to the Law; so, now, he is making sure that his readers don’t take this lesson too far in the other direction and use the freedom that Christ has given them as an excuse to live ungodly and sinful lives. In this section, Paul is saying, essentially, “Don’t think God’s gracious act in Christ means you can live however you want; as believers, you are still called (and expected) to live Christlike lives displaying the fruits of the Spirit." And, in making this argument, Paul gives us some important ways that we can make sure we are living by the Spirit in our own lives.
