Daniel 8:1-27 "Darkness Settles In"

This week, we are looking at Daniel's second vision of a ram and a goat. This ram and this goat, we are told, represent the kingdoms of Medo-Persia and Greece. As such, we can come to the conclusion that this vision is a vision about the future of Israel specifically. And, since it is a vision for Israel specifically, a vision that we will see was fulfilled long ago, it may seem like it has no relevance for us today. But that is not true because, as we will see, this passage has much to teach us about enduring suffering in this life as people of God. Namely, it teaches us that Satanic opposition, and therefore suffering, is inevitable. Second, it teaches us that suffering is not a product of God’s abandonment. Third, it teaches us that God is still in control and will one day judge evil and bring all suffering to an end.
