Daniel 9:1-19 "The End Of Heartache"

This week, we are looking at Daniel's passionate prayer of confession and repentance on behalf of God's people. Daniel knew that God's people had sinned, he knew that they were being punished through their exile; but, based upon his study of Scripture, he also knew God had promised to bring the punishment to an end. So, Daniel fervently prayed that God would forgive His people and fulfill His promise to restore them to their home. In doing this, Daniel gives us an excellent example of some of the elements of true prayer that we can incorporate into our own prayer lives. First, Daniel shows us that true prayer is always focused on God’s glory through invocation. Second, true prayer appeals to God’s mercy through confession. Third, true prayer expresses the needs of God’s people through petition. Finally, true prayer uses Scripture as a guide.
