Unfaithfulness and disbelief and their two counterpoints...faithfulness and belief...are unequivocally intertwined. We see this in our passage…the belief of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in their God led them to an extreme act of faithfulness under the threat of severe persecution. And, I think that the way that these three men refused to bow down to the statue teaches us two very important lessons: First, obviously, it teaches us the dangers of idolatry. But second, it teaches us the dangers of disbelief and the importance of holding fast to our faithfulness.
