The sole reason that we celebrate Christmas, the sole reason that Jesus was born, was to rescue us; He was born because we are fallen and we need a Savior. Because of this need for a Savior, we see in our passage this morning that Jesus had to be born to save, that He had to be born to fulfill Scripture, and that He had to be born in piety and purity.
