This week, we continue our Advent series with a look at one of the most well-known passages of the Advent/Christmas season, the Magnificat. These verses are a psalm of praise to the Lord for all that He has done and all that He will do. In these 10 verses, Mary articulates a complete view of who God is and the works that He undertakes on behalf of His people. This psalm of Mary is called the Magnificat because that is the first word in the Latin translation of this passage, it is a word that is generally translated as “magnifies,” but is translated as “glorifies” in the NIV.
